Zidane man of the match against Brazil

Berlin - Zinedine Zidane was named FIFA man of the match in France's 1-0 victory over Brazil that sent the French to the World Cup semi-finals Saturday and ended Brazilian hopes of a sixth title. Zidane, who turned 34 during the World Cup and was written off by many before the tournament, fired the 57th-minute free kick that Thierry Henry netted for the victory. 'Zindedine Zidane turned back the clock and showed the form that won him three FIFA World Player of the Year awards,' FIFA's citation said. Zidane - who led France to the 1998 World Cup trophy - used delicate touches, feints and dangerous balls to Henry to power a French side that once again revolved around him. He 'comfortably outshone his opposite number and current FIFA World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho, with a virtuoso display of skill, vision and guile,' FIFA said. 'His footwork was amazing, his passing exquisite. He totally marshalled the midfield,' FIFA technical study group member Alvin Corneal said.
