Ballack Man of the Match
Jun 20, 2006, 18:41 GMT
Berlin - Germany captain Michael Ballack on Tuesday was declared the Man of the Match after Germany's 3-0 victory over Ecuador - a win that sees them top the group from the South Americans.
Ballack, who has just joined Chelsea from Bayern Munich, dedicated things in the midfield to create space for striker Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski.
Klose scored twice and set up the other for Podolski.
Former Scotland coach Andy Roxburgh, who is a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group that makes the award, said: 'Michael Ballack was the one player who organised the game for a German side containing a lot of good players today.
'If you look at the 90 minutes overall, he was the one centrally who had the power and took charge of a lot of the attacks. Additionally he created the second goal which was the decisive one.'
