Koenigstein, Germany - One man who can't wait for his World Cup to start is Ronaldo. The Brazilian marksman wants to leave behind the questions about his weight and his social life and set about scoring the three goals that will make him the tournament's all-time top scorer.
'I want the World Cup to start more than anyone. Let's see if then we can stop all the stupid talk and the lies,' said the Real Madrid striker who added that he felt fit and ready for Brazil's big kick- off.
Ronaldo, who has been criticized for being overweight and for staying out late along with team-mates, added: 'I feel good despite the little problems I have had in the preparation. I want to concentrate on the game and give my best and hope that things go well for us.'
The striker was out for three months of last season in Spain and suffered blistered feet after a friendly against New Zealand in the build-up to this tournament.
'I want to win the World Cup and I want to break the record', he said, referring to the record of 14 goals in World Cups currently held by German striker Gerd Mueller.
Ronaldo has 12 World Cup goals to his name and one Brazilian backing him to beat the record is Pele.
The World Cup legend said: 'He has a great chance to write himself into the history books. Mueller was a fantastic striker but I think Ronaldo can break his record. He will do it.'
