Gerrard expects to be fully fit for Paraguay
Jun 8, 2006, 12:48 GMT
Baden-Baden, Germany - Steven Gerrard returned to training with England's World Cup squad Thursday after sitting out the previous session due to back pain and said he expected to be fully fit to face Paraguay in their Group B opener in Frankfurt Saturday.
'The back has been a bit of a problem over the last couple of days, but it is improving all the time,' he said.
'Hopefully there will be no reaction from the little bits I did in training today and I expect to take a full part again on Friday.
'Then I'll be fit and raring to go against Paraguay. I can't wait to get started.'
The 26-year-old Liverpool midfielder first felt the problem at the end of Tuesday's training session.
England travel to Frankfurt on Friday for a final training session at the match stadium, home of Eintracht Frankfurt.
