Syracuse, NY - Syracuse University women's basketball coach Keith Cieplicki resigned Tuesday and was replaced on an interim basis by assistant Quentin Hillsman.
Cieplicki spent three seasons as Syracuse's head coach and guided the Orange to a record of just 28-55, including 9-18 this past season. He had compiled a record of 127-53 in six years as Vermont's head coach before taking over at Syracuse.
Hillsman joined the Syracuse staff in 2005 after one season as an assistant at Alabama. He was the head coach at the Patterson School in Lenoir, North Carolina in 2003-04 and led the girls team to a record of 26-1.
'I just want to thank [athletic director] Dr. [Daryl] Gross and our chancellor, Nancy Cantor, for this opportunity,' Hillsman said. 'I am very grateful and honored to be able to coach at a great institution and coach a wonderful group of young ladies.'
