Indianapolis, IN - Tamika Catchings had 22 points and 11 rebounds as the Indiana Fever downed the Detroit Shock, 75-65, at Conseco Fieldhouse in game one of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Tamika Whitmore added 18 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown donated 11 points, eight rebounds and six blocks for the Fever, who are one win away from their first trip to the finals.
Plenette Pierson had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Cheryl Ford added 15 points and 11 boards for the Shock, who have won two championships in the last four years.
Indiana shot just 32.3 percent and was outrebounded 43-39 but took good care of the basketball, committing just five turnovers in the win.
Game two is Sunday at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
