Auburn Hills, MI - Deanna Nolan scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Detroit Shock avoided elimination with a 76-73 win over the New York Liberty in Game 2 of their first-round Eastern Conference semifinal series at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Swin Cash added 14 points and Katie Smith 12 for the Shock, who evened the series at 1-1. Cheryl Ford had 11 points and 10 rebounds while Plenette Pierson donated 11 points and 12 boards for the defending WNBA Champs.
Shameka Christon and Janel McCarville scored 19 points apiece for the Liberty, who were outrebounded 41-29.
The decisive Game 3 will be played Tuesday night at The Palace.
