New York, NY - Washington Mystics guard/forward Alana Beard and Seattle Storm center Lauren Jackson were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Sunday, August 19.
Beard earned her second Player of the Week award this season, averaging 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists and one steal as the Mystics went 2-1. She shot 46 percent from the field (27-for-59), including 36 percent on three- pointers (4-for-11) and adding a perfect 10-for-10 on free throws.
Jackson averaged 25 points, 12 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, two steals and 1.5 assists on her way to her fifth weekly award of the season and 12th of her career. She shot 43 percent (12-for-28) from the field, including 36 percent (4-for-11) on three-pointers, while going 92 percent (22-for-24) from the free throw line. The Storm won both of their games during the week.
