Los Angeles, CA - Tina Thompson had 22 points and seven rebounds as the Houston Comets finished a disappointing season with an 82-72 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at the Staples Center.
Hamchetou Maiga had 15 points and Tamecka Dixon added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Comets, who avoided their worst season in franchise history with the win.
Houston, which finished the season 13-21, finished the 2004 season 13-21.
Sherill Baker had 16 points and seven assists while Jessica Moore added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Sparks, who had made the playoffs for eight straight seasons, but will miss them this season after finishing 11-23, their worst season in franchise history.
