San Antonio, TX - Tamika Whitmore led Indiana with 12 points off the bench, and Tammy Sutton-Brown added nine points and five rebounds in a 59-55 win over the Silver Stars that secured the second seed in the Eastern Conference for the Fever.
San Antonio (20-13) will remain in second in the Western Conference standings despite their second consecutive loss.
The Silver Stars were led by Vickie Johnson (11 points, eight rebounds), Sophia Young (12 points), and Becky Hammon (10) in a game that they shot just 35 percent from the floor (23-for-65).
San Antonio, who held a six-point halftime lead, was also left shorthanded in the fourth quarter when center Ruth Riley (0 points, eight rebounds) fouled out.
Indiana's lead had been trimmed to two with just 1:04 remaining, but a pair of baskets by Whitmore - a jumper and a driving layup - put the Silver Stars away.
