Washington, DC - Shameka Christon nailed a pair of free throws in the closing seconds and finished with 12 points on the night, as the New York Liberty stayed in the thick of the playoff race with a 73-72 win over the Washington Mystics.
Janel McCarville netted a team-high 18 points and collected six rebounds for the Liberty, who are now within a half-game of the Mystics for the fourth and final playoff seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Liberty have a pair of home games remaining, while Washington has just one game left in the regular season -- a home game versus the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.
DeLisha Milton-Jones led all scorers with 21 points, and Alana Beard scored 19 for the Mystics.
