Chicago, IL - Jia Perkins recorded 24 points and four assists as Chicago bested New York, 77-65, at UIC Pavilion.
The win came at the cost of forward Chasity Melvin, who suffered an eye injury in the first quarter when she attempted to pull down a defensive rebound. Melvin did not record a point or a rebound before she exited.
Melvin had to hold a towel over her eye and walked off the court with assistance, then was taken to UIC Medical Center for evaluation.
Stacey Dales contributed 17 points for the Sky, who snapped a five-game losing skid but were eliminated from the playoffs with Connecticut's win earlier Tuesday. Candice Dupree added 16 points and five rebounds, while Dominique Canty had 12 points and dished out a game-high nine assists.
Jessica Davenport came off the bench to score 14 points for the Liberty, who have dropped 10 of their last 13. Shameka Christon and Janel McCarville scored 11 points each and Loree Moore contributed a team-high seven rebounds in defeat.
New York led 38-34 at the half, but doomed themselves by scoring only seven points in the third quarter.
