Nolan, Taylor named WNBA Players of the Week

New York, NY - Penny Taylor of the Phoenix Mercury and Deanna Nolan of the Detroit Shock were named WNBA Players of the Week for the period ending August 12.
Taylor, who received the Western Conference honor, averaged 27.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists while leading the Mercury to a 3-0 record on the week.
Nolan, who nabbed the Eastern Conference award, averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists for Detroit. The Shock went 2-1 on the week, clinched the league's best record and locked up home-court advantage throughout the playoffs.
Other candidates for Players of the Week were Indiana's Anna DeForge, New York's Janel McCarville, Sacramento's Rebekkah Brunson, San Antonio's Sophia Young and Washington's Alana Beard.
