Thompson propels Rockets over Monarchs

Houston, TX - Tina Thompson poured in 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the Houston Comets downed the Sacramento Monarchs, 83-75, at the Toyota Center.
Tamecka Dixon added 19 points off the bench, Sancho Lyttle had 14 points, nine boards and three blocked shots and Michelle Snow had 11 rebounds for the Comets, who have won three of four and need to win their final four games and have Seattle lose its last three to advance to the playoffs.
Kara Lawson finished with 14 points off the bench, Nicole Powell and Rebekkah Brunson had 13 points apiece and Yolanda Griffith, who left in the fourth quarter with a twisted knee, donated 10 points for the Monarchs, who have lost three of four.
Houston shot 47.5 percent while holding Sacramento to 34.8 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded the Monarchs 38-20.
