Mystics down Liberty

Washington, DC - Alana Beard poured in 24 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Washington Mystics past the New York Liberty, 80-68, at the Verizon Center.
Nakia Sanford added 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the floor as well as 4-for-4 from the free throw line for the Mystics, who ended a two-game slide. Monique Currie had 12 points in the victory while Delisha Milton had a double- double with 10 points and 10 boards.
Washington shot 46.9 percent from the floor for the game and went 18-of-22 from the charity stripe.
Janell McCarville had 15 points for the struggling Liberty, who have eight losses in their last nine games. Tiffany Jackson had 13 points off the bench in the loss while Loree Moore and Erin Thorn each had 10.
New York, which shot 42.4 percent from the floor, committed 18 turnovers.
