Taurasi boosts Mercury over Silver Stars

San Antonio, TX - Diana Taurasi scored 24 points to lead the Phoenix Mercury to an 84-79 victory over the San Antonio Silver Stars at AT&T Center.
Taurasi drilled six 3-pointers and scored 19 points in the second half for the Mercury, who extended their winning streak to six games and took the season series between the teams 3-1.
Cappie Pondexter chipped in with 18 points, while Kelly Miller and Tangela Smith each had 12. With the win, Phoenix also grabbed a one-game lead over San Antonio in the Western Conference.
Shanna Crossley scored a career-high 21 points -- all on 3-pointers -- for the Silver Stars, who have dropped four of six.
Shophia Young added 17 points, Becky Hammon donated 13 and Ruth Riley finished with 11 points with nine rebounds for San Antonio.
