Mercury edge Comets

Houston, TX - Diana Taurasi scored 19 points as the Phoenix Mercury topped the Houston Comets, 76-74, at the Toyota Center.
Cappie Pondexter scored 14 points and Penny Taylor added 10 for the Mercury, who used a 10-0 run late in the fourth quarter to win their fifth straight game.
Michelle Snow scored a game-high 21 points and Sancho Lyttle had a career-high 15 points and nine rebounds for the Comets, who have lost three of four.
Down by four with about five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Phoenix ripped off 10 straight points, capped by a Taurasi trey, to grab the lead. Houston had one last chance to send the game into overtime, but Tina Thompson couldn't convert a layup right before the buzzer.
Thompson ended with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Comets.
