Smith leads Shock to win over Mystics

Washington, DC - Katie Smith scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down five rebounds as the Detroit Shock defeated the Washington Mystics, 76-64, at Verizon Center.
Smith was 6-of-15 shooting and 1-of-7 from three-point range. Plenette Pierson chipped in with 18 points and seven boards, while Kara Braxton added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Shock, who have won eight of their last nine and will host the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday night.
DeLisha Milton-Jones had a team-high 17 points and seven rebounds for Washington, which lost for only the second time in its last seven games. The Mystics will travel to Indiana to play the Fever on Tuesday night.
Detroit outrebounded Washington 49-20.
