Indiana's Catchings sidelined with foot injury
Jul 22, 2007, 2:05 GMT
Chicago, IL - Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings will miss at least two weeks of action after sustaining a left foot injury.
The All-Star was hurt in the third quarter of Friday's 89-80 loss to the Detroit Shock, and was diagnosed with a partial tear of her left plantar fascia.
Catchings, a top candidate for MVP honors this season, is averaging 16.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists and a league-leading 3.15 steals per game.
'It is unfortunate for us,' said Fever head coach Brian Winters, 'but we have a deep team and we feel that we can still win and continue our winning edge. We look forward to the time she can come back and help us into the playoffs.'
Catchings will miss at least five games, including Saturday night's matchup against the Chicago Sky.
