Spencer, Sparks down Mercury

Phoenix, AZ - Sidney Spencer netted 24 points and pulled down 12 rebounds, helping the Los Angeles Sparks top the Phoenix Mercury, 87-77, at US Airways Center.
Mwadi Mabika added 21 points, seven boards and seven assists, and Sherill Baker had 11 points in a winning cause.
Cappie Pondexter had a team-best 23 points for the Mercury, who were outscored 32-22 in the first quarter. Penny Taylor chipped in 14 points and five rebounds.
