Shock fends off Fever

Indianapolis, IN - Katie Smith scored a game-high 28 points on 7-of-12 shooting as Detroit dumped Indiana, 89-80, at Conseco Fieldhouse.
Deanna Nolan added 19 points for the Shock, who won for the fifth straight time and tied the Fever atop the Eastern Conference with a 16-5 mark. Swin Cash chipped in 12 points and Cheryl Ford had nine points and 11 boards.
Tammy Sutton-Brown tallied 16 points for the Fever, who lost for the first time in seven games. Tan White added 13 points off the bench and Tamika Catchings finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
