Mystics conjure up late magic to beat Houston

Washington, DC - Monique Currie scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds, as the Washington Mystics used a big fourth-quarter run to claim a 65-58 victory over the Houston Comets at the Verizon Center.
Alana Beard also scored 16 points for the Mystics, who outscored Houston 24-7 in the fourth quarter and ended the game with a 17-1 run to match a season high with their third straight win.
Washington also won three straight from June 23-29 and has captured six of its last eight games after a dismal 2-10 start.
Tina Thompson scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Houston, which suffered a major collapse after leading for the majority of the contest.
The Comets built a 22-12 lead after one quarter and opened a 36-22 bulge at halftime before Washington trimmed its deficit to 51-41 entering the fourth.
