Detroit, MI - Katie Smith scored 20 points and Deanna Nolan had 18 to lead the Detroit Shock over the Phoenix Mercury, 111-82.
Swin Cash had 14 points and 10 boards and Shannon Johnson recorded 14 points and eight assists for the Shock, who ended a three-game slide and won for the first time since June 27. Plenette Pierson tallied 13 points with 14 boards and Ivory Latta had 13 points for Detroit, which used a 72-point second half to turn a two-point halftime deficit into a runaway win.
Detroit head coach Bill Laimbeer benched center Kara Braxton for her poor play. She played only in the final minutes when the game was well in hand.
Tangela Smith had 16 points to lead the Mercury, who had a four-game win streak halted. Penny Taylor tallied 15 points, while Diana Taurasi was held to only five points.
