Buescher helps Silver Stars drop Storm
Jul 8, 2007, 3:45 GMT
San Antonio, TX - Erin Buescher netted 11 of her career-high 27 points in the fourth quarter, as the San Antonio Silver Stars downed the Seattle Storm, 80-73, on Saturday.
Helen Darling and Sophia Young both scored 11 points for San Antonio, which has won three straight. Vickie Johnson added 10 points in the win.
Tanisha Wright scored a career-high 23 points for Seattle, which had a three- game winning streak snapped. Lauren Jackson had 15 points and 13 rebounds in the loss.
Both squads were without their All-Star guards, as San Antonio's Becky Hammon missed her third straight game with a sprained left foot, and Seattle's Sue Bird sat out for the second consecutive night after surgery on her left knee on Friday.
The Storm got within 70-65 on a Wright layup with just under three minutes to go, but Buescher drained a three-pointer and the Silver Stars finished 6-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final minute.
