Detroit, MI - Erin Buescher posted 23 points and 16 rebounds and converted two key free throws in the final seconds to lead the San Antonio Silver Stars over the Detroit Shock, 71-68, on Sunday.
With the score knotted at 66, Vickie Johnson drained a three from the left wing with 1:15 remaining before Swin Cash hit a free throw on the other end for a two-point game. Buescher and Sophia Young both missed on jump-shot attempts, and Cheryl Ford got the rebound. Katie Smith got fouled, but made only 1-of-2 free throws with 5.4 seconds on the clock.
Buescher got fouled immediately after accepting the inbound pass, and converted both free throws with 4.5 seconds left. Deanna Nolan got a good look at a three-pointer from the right corner but came up just wide, as San Antonio escaped with the win.
Johnson scored 12 points for the Silver Stars, who snapped a two-game losing skid. Young had 11 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Nolan netted 24 points for the Shock, who have lost three of four. Ford notched nine points and 12 boards in the loss.
