Jun 21, 2007, 1:35 GMT
Uncasville, CT - Shameka Christon scored 22 points, as the New York Liberty gave up the game's first 17 points before rallying for a 76-73 victory over the Connecticut Sun.
Ashley Battle added 18 points for the Liberty, who forced 23 turnovers in snapping a two-game skid.
Katie Douglas and Nykesha Sales each scored 17 for the Sun, who lost their fifth in a row two shy of the franchise record. Asjha Jones tallied 14 points, while Lindsay Whalen ended with nine points, 10 assists and eight boards in a losing cause.
Whalen's breakaway layup brought the Sun within 74-73 with under 12 seconds left. Battle then hit two foul shots, and Connecticut got the ball back with 9.5 seconds to go.
Douglas was fouled with her right foot barely over the three-point line. She was off the mark on the first free throw and intentionally missed the second. Loree Moore got the rebound for New York and ran out the clock.
Despite scoring the first 17 points of the game, the Sun wasted the huge lead and held a 35-33 edge at the half. Their lead stood at 58-55 going into the final quarter.
