Sharapova, Serena Williams advance in women's rankings

Hamburg - Russia's Maria Sharapova climbed to third while Serena Williams of the United States jumped three places to sixth in the WTA women's tennis rankings released Monday.

Belgium's Justine Henin remains top with 6,105 points, ahead of Serbian Ana Ivanovic, with Sharapova swapping places with compatriot Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Williams, who won the Miami Masters earlier this month, moves behind fifth-ranked Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. Sister Venus meanwhile slips a place to eighth.

WTA top 10 as of April 21 (previous ranking in brackets):
