From Monsters and Critics.com Tennis Flushing Meadows, NY - Venus Williams pulled out of the United States Open on Friday, citing a nagging left wrist injury. 'I have many great memories from competing at the US Open and I regret that I will not will not be able to participate in 2006,' said Williams in a statement through her agent Carlos Fleming. Williams captured America's premier tennis championship in back-to-back fashion during the 2000 and 2001 campaigns. 'I will miss the excitement of competing in front of the New York fans at one of the premier sporting events in the world,' said Williams. 'I look forward to returning in 2007.'
