Murray motors past Swiss Chiudinelli in Dubai
Feb 29, 2012, 13:10 GMT
Dubai - Andy Murray defeated a second qualifier in as many days on Wednesday when the third seed eased comfortably past Swiss Marco Chiudinelli 6-3, 6-4 for a place in the quarter-finals of the Dubai Championships.
The victory in less than 90 minutes came 24 hours after the Scot had a much tougher time in putting away German Michael Berrer to open his week in the desert.
Murray showed no signs of a stomach discomfort he played through in his first match.
The Scot never faced a break point against the number 185 Chiudinelli, a childhood friend of fellow Basle native Roger Federer. Murray broke once per set in an efficient victory to reach the last eight.
Serbian seventh seed Janko Tipsarevic was ambushed in the opening set but responded strongly to advance over Italian Flavio Cipolla, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 6-1.
