Nadal gives Spain 1-0 lead in Davis Cup final
Dec 2, 2011, 15:51 GMT
Seville, Spain - Rafael Nadal rediscovered his clay-court dominance as he hammered Juan Monaco 6-1, 6-1, 6-2 to give Spain a 1-0 lead over Argentina in the Davis Cup final on Friday.
A week after crashing out of the ATP World Tour Finals with two group defeats, the world number two shot out of the blocks against his good friend Monaco.
Spain are bidding for a fifth Davis Cup trophy since 2000.
Nadal won in just under two and a half hours, calling his victory 'a really solid match.' David Ferrer was hoping to take another point for the hosts as he played Juan Del Potro in the second rubber.
