Dec 2, 2011, 11:09 GMT
Copenhagen - Women's tennis world number one Caroline Wozniacki's chances of winning a Grand Slam trophy could be enhanced if she improves some aspects of her game, her coach said Friday.
'She should play her forehand shots like the men do, and hit them more inside-out like (Rafael) Nadal, (Novak) Djokovic and (Roger) Federer,' Ricardo Sanchez was quoted as telling the Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet.
The Spanish coach outlined three main areas where Wozniacki could improve her overall game, mentioning the forehand shot as one.
Sanchez said that Wozniacki should improve her rescue shots from the back court by aiming at the opponent's body to win time and developing a short backhand slice like Federer has. In addition, she should also polish her volley game at the net.
Sanchez has worked with other leading players and helped propel Jelena Jankovic to the top of the ranking list.
Wozniacki was until recently coached by her father, Piotr. She is yet to lift a trophy at the majors which taints her top ranking.
