Big three nail more awards for ATP season
Nov 19, 2011, 13:33 GMT
London - Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal shared the off-court glory as the three biggest names in the sport swept the table at the 2011 ATP World Tour Awards.
World number one Djokovic was officially recognised as top player for the season, a first time event for the Serb who won ten titles including three of the four Grand Slams.
Federer has a lock on the Sportsmanship award after lifting it for the seventh time in eight years and running his ATP award total to 22 gongs in eight years.
The 30-year-old Swiss was pleased to have again been recognised.
'One of the reasons why I play this wonderful sport is for my fans so I would like to thank them once again for their continued support,' said Federer.
'It really is so amazing and means the world to me. It's also gratifying to be recognised by my fellow players for exhibiting fair play on and off the court. The award is named after Stefan Edberg, one of my childhood idols, so it is even more special.'
For good measure, Federer was also voted Fan Favourite for a record ninth consecutive season, finishing ahead of Djokovic and Nadal.
Nadal claimed the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for his charitable efforts with the Rafa Nadal Foundation, which provides opportunities for socially disadvantaged youth.
Other winners included Americans Bob and Mike Bryan (season doubles number one and online fan favourites) and Juan Del Porto (Comeback Player of the Year).
Canadian Milos Raonic took Newcomer of the Year while Russian-American Alex Bogomolov was voted Most Improved.
