Nishikori nails down Basle semi-final spot

Basle, Switzerland - Kei Nishikori of Japan booked the first of the semi-final spots at the Swiss Indoors on Friday with his 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 defeat of Mikhail Kukushkin.
Nishikori will face the winner from a match between top seed and world number one Novak Djokovic and former Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis.
Nishikori has had a solid Basle debut, beating fourth seed Tomas Berdyzh in the first round, the Japanese player, ranked 32nd, spend two hours, 40 minutes in carving out his victory over Kukushkin of Kazakhstan.
He has now won six of seven quarter-finals in his breakthrough 2011 season.
