Tsonga stuns Federer from two sets to love down
Jun 29, 2011, 15:33 GMT
London - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga stunned Roger Federer 3-6, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 Wednesday to hand the six-time champion his first Grand Slam defeat while holding a two-sets-to-love lead, booking a place in the Wimbledon semi-finals.
Federer had been beaten from a 2-0 lead outside of the majors, last losing one to Argentine David Nalbandian in the Shanghai year-end final six years ago.
The upset in just over three hours ended a perfect Federer record, with the Swiss standing 178-0 in Grand Slams after winning the first two sets.
Tsonga will play for a spot in his second Grand Slam final when he takes on second seed Novak Djokovic, who beat Australian Bernard Tomic 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 7-5.
