Serena joins Venus in quitting the season early
Oct 11, 2010, 11:42 GMT
Los Angeles - Serena Williams is all but certain to join her elder sister Venus in pulling the plug on her WTA season after withdrawing from this week's Linz WTA event.
Williams had said she would make her comeback at the small Austrian venue. But the Williams camp reported that the player had felt a twinge in her right foot which had reportedly undergone surgery sometime in the post-Wimbledon period.
Williams has not been seen nearly a tennis court since her winning final over Vera Zvonareva at the All England club more than three months ago - only her sixth event of a massively abbreviated season.
