Paris - Double Grand Slam champion Amelie Mauresmo has hinted that her flagging motivation could possibly spell the end of her career after ending her 2009 season a month early.
'Since I came back from the US Open, I have been trying to practise but I did not find the desire to get back to competition,' said the world number 20 on her website. 'I do not want to rush things.
'I still give myself some time before making a decision regarding the remainder of my career.'
The former number one reached the top spot on the WTA five years ago and followed up with major titles in Australia and Wimbledon in 2006.
The 30-year-old who last played in a second round US Open loss to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak owns 25 career titles, the last earned in February indoors in Paris.
She has withdrawn from her final two events of 2009 at Linz, Austria, and Luxembourg.
