She will be the third Russian in the field along with world number one Dinara Safina and Elena Dementieva. American Serena Williams and Denmark's US Open runner-up Caroline Wozniacki have also qualified..

'In the last year I've worked really hard on my game and fitness and I am proud of the season I've had. I look forward to competing with the best tennis players in the world in Doha,' Kuznetsova said in a statement relased Monday in Beijing, where she plays in the China Open.

The field features the top eight singles players in the world as well as the four best doubles pairings.
