Federer wins men's Wimbledon title to surpass Sampras (Urgent)

London - Roger Federer defeated American Andy Roddick 5-7, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 16-14 in a marathon Wimbledon final on Sunday to become the first man in tennis history to win 15 Grand Slam titles. Federer's sixth crown at the All England club was secured on his first match point and sees the Swiss move one clear of 14-time Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras in the all-time standings. Last month, Federer joined Fred Perry, Don Budge, Roy Emerson, Rod Laver and Andre Agassi as a winner of all four majors when he claimed his first French Open title. Federer has also won five US Open and three Australian Open titles.
