London - Roger Federer dropped his first serve of the season on grass but shrugged off the inconvenience to rip Robin Soderling 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) for a place in the third round of the Wimbledon Championships.
The Swiss top seed, who came to the Grand Slam with a title on grass at Halle, was broken in the sixth game of the third set as the Swede put him under pressure.
But the winner of the last five editions at the All England club Federer calmly got it back three games later and served out his 40th Wimbledon match victory against just four losses.
Federer fired 15 aces in the two-hour victory.
'I'm happy with how I played,' said the 12-time Grand Slam winner. 'It was difficult to see the ball with the low afternoon sun.
'I'm moving well and even though I was broken for the first time on grass in 2008, I had an excellent performance. I hope to build on it.'
