Beijing - Jelena Jankovic shrugged off a dizzy spell, snapping a second-set run of seven straight breaks of serve as she faced Japan's Morigami to earn e 6-3, 7-5 win into the semi-finals of the China Open on Friday.
The second-seeded Serb will face Lindsay Davenport for a second consecutive week after losing to the comeback American mum in the Bali quarter-finals seven days ago.
Jankovic, who stands 0-4 in that series, converted on only seven of 16 break points while losing her own serve five times in one hour, 39 minutes against the Japanese.
The second seed Jankovic converted on only seven of 16 break points while losing her own serve five times in the patchy performance.
She said she had to fight off the sudden dizzy spells. 'Somehow I managed to win, I'm just happy to be in the semi-finals.'
Davenport, who also had her troubles before defeating fourth seed Elena Dementieva 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.
Dementieva had chances against Davenport, who is storming through a comeback to tennis three months after giving birth.
Davenport, a three-time Grand Slam champion, lost her own serve three times before settling into the hour-long first set at the Beijing tennis centre, then ran away with the victory after just another 30 minutes on court.
The win takes Davenport to back-to-back semi-finals after her title in Bali, her first time on a WTA court since September, 2006, when she said she was giving up the game to start a family.
Dementieva couldn't trade on past glories after winning the Chinese title in 2003 when it was played in rival Shanghai.
Davenport improve to 11-5 over Dementieva as she gets accustomed to travelling with newborn son Jagger, who has accompanied his mum in Bali and Beijing the last two weeks.
'I'm collecting tournament badges for him, I want him to know where he has been,' said Davenport, who also travels with her own mother, a nanny and a hitting partner.
'This week is my last in Asia. I plan to go home and have a rest. For the rest of the year.
'I will only play in Canada (Quebec) in the first week of November. It's time to get physically rested and let my son be with his father.'
China will have a final-four representative for the second year in a row as 49th-ranked Peng Shuai upset French third seed Amelie Mauresmo 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
Mauresmo was playing for the first time in two months after a slow recovery from February appendix surgery. 'It's been really difficult to recover from my surgery,' she said. '2007 is almost over, I'll play four of five more events and try to aim for the Top ten again next year.'
Peng, coached by Michael Chang, will play sixth seed Agnes Szavay, who defeated Maria-Emilia Salerni of Argentina 6-2, 6-4.
