New York - Injury-prone Justine Henin-Hardenne could return to tennis as early as Monday for a pre-US Open test, after last playing in July's Wimbledon final.
The Belgian who lost the title match at the All England club to France's Amelie Mauresmo - also inactive since lifting the trophy - may play in next week's New Haven WTA event and has plans to play in the Open, her website said.
'I will be playing the full grand slam for the first time in three years,' Henin-Hardenne told her site.
'No matter what my final decision is regarding New Haven, participation in US Open will not be compromised,' she said.
Henin-Hardenne was one of a group of big-name pullouts from this week's tournament in Montreal. She cited a knee injury as her reason for not playing.
