Paris - Heartbroken Venus Williams will go to ground at home in Florida before re-emerging in time to bid for a fourth career title at Wimbledon.
The last American in the field crashed out in the French Open quarter-finals Tuesday, a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-3 victim of hot-handed Czech teenager Nicole Vaidisova.
'I would have loved to have done better (in Paris). I just want to just get stronger and just get better,' said Williams, whose sister Serena will be missing from the game until further notice.
'I'll go home, prepare in the same way for Wimbledon.'
Williams can call upon experience on the grass, backing up a breakthrough 2000 title at the Al England club with a 2001 crown and lifting the trophy for the third time last year. 'I would love to win it again, obviously. It's a tournament I love to win. It would mean that I won back to back,' said Williams. looking ahead at this year's edition which starts June 26.
'But obviously, every single player is vying to win Wimbledon. I want to do it - that's the simple answer.'
Williams missed three months from January until April with injuries, mainly in her arm.
'I can practise my serve a lot more and at Wimbledon you'll see more consistency on that with my arm (after injury) doing better.
'I would have loved to have been playing this whole year. I want to be playing now, I want to be playing next week,' she said.
