Besiktas leave Braga in trouble, Olympiakos win at Rubin Kazan
Feb 14, 2012, 19:55 GMT
Berlin - Besiktas took advantage of a red card to Braga's Helder Barbosa to earn a 2-0 victory at the Portuguese side in the first leg of their last-32 tie in the Europa League Tuesday.
Barbosa was sent off after 29 minutes, and the Turkish side punished last season's losing finalists with an opener in the 37th minute from Tomas Sivok.
Simao in the 58th minute put the game beyond doubt and made it a happy homecoming for Besiktas coach Carlos Carvalhal, who hails from Braga.
Olympiakos earned a 1-0 victory in the first leg of their round of 32 tie at Russian side Rubin Kazan.
David Fuster hit the 71st minute winner for the Greek side, while keeper Roy Carroll came on and saved Bebras Natcho's penalty with his first touch for the visitors with 14 minutes to go.
The remaining 14 first-leg ties of the round follow on Thursday. Second legs will be played on February 22-23.
