Tevez back at Manchester City after three months unauthorised leave

By Ben James Feb 14, 2012, 19:08 GMT

London - Something few Manchester City fans thought likely ever to happen became reality on Tuesday as Carlos Tevez returned from a three-month unauthorised absence.

The 28-year-old was all smiles as he arrived at City's training ground, intent on helping them clinch the Premier League title.

Tevez was met by a swarm of media at Manchester Airport after an overnight flight from Buenos Aires and was due to undergo a medical examination to determine his fitness.

It was a remarkable turnaround for Tevez, who walked out of City three months ago convinced he would never play for the club again.

Manager Roberto Mancini had said the Argentina forward had played his last game for the club after alleging he had refused to come on as a substitute in a Champions League match away to Bayern Munich in September.

Tevez claimed at the time it had been a misunderstanding but as Mancini's mood softened, the possibility of him returning to the club grew.

On Monday, Tevez told Argentinian TV he would be ready to play in two weeks, adding: 'the most important thing for me is to return to get fit.'

In his interview on Monday, Tevez said: 'I do not think I was wrong but if (the club) think so, I apologize. I am ready to return, to win and do the best for the club's shirt.'

However, Tevez yet again courted controversy in the same interview, when he said that Mancini had treated him 'like a dog' in Munich.

City are two points clear of rivals Manchester United at the top of the Premier League with 13 games remaining.
