Feb 14, 2012, 13:38 GMT
Berlin - Northern Irish goalkeeper Roy Carroll saved a penalty on his first touch after coming on as a substitute as 10-man Olympiakos Piraeus prevailed 1-0 at Russia's Rubin Kazan in the Europa League round of 32 on Tuesday.
Spanish midfielder David Fuster on target from short range off a corner kick in the 71st minutes for the visitors at Moscow's Luzhniki stadium.
Olympiakos goalkeeper Balazs Megyeri was sent off a minute later for bringing down Gokdeniz Karadeniz. Carroll came on as a substitute to save the ensuing penalty kick from Israel midfielder Bebras Natcho as the Greek champions hung on to victory.
Olympiakos host the second leg next week Thursday.
Last season's runners-up Braga of Portugal were to host Turkey's Besiktas in the day's other game.
The remaining 14 first-leg games are scheduled for Thursday, with Premier League leaders and Champions League drop-outs Manchester City and Manchester United away to Europa League champions Porto and Ajax Amsterdam, respectively.
