Struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers sack manager McCarthy
Feb 13, 2012, 11:14 GMT
London - Struggling Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers confirmed on Monday they have sacked their manager Mick McCarthy.
In a statement, the club said it had been 'a difficult decision' but a run of 14 points from their past 22 games had made up their minds.
Their 5-1 home defeat by West Bromwich Albion on Sunday was the final straw for McCarthy, who joined Wolves in 2006 and led them to promotion to the Premier League.
Assistant manager Terry Connor will take charge of team training until a new manager is appointed, the club said.
