Reports: fours members of Ajax's supervisory board to step down
Feb 9, 2012, 9:59 GMT
Amsterdam - Four members of Ajax Amsterdam's five-strong supervisory board were expected to step down later Thursday over the latest twist in a leadership row at the Dutch top club, De Volkskrant daily reported.
Steven ten Have, Paul Roemer, Edgar Davids en Marjan Olfers will announce their decision to leave Ajax's supervisory board, 'reliable sources' from the club told De Volkskrant.
The move comes after Ajax's bid to appoint Louis van Gaal as their new chief executive was on Tuesday blocked by an appeal court in Amsterdam.
The lawsuit was brought by former football legend Johan Cruyff against four fellow members of the club's supervisory board in a bid to prevent Van Gaal from taking up such an influential position.
Ten Have, Römer, Davids and Olfers appointed Van Gaal and other directors in November without consulting Cruyff.
