Equatorial Guinea first team through to the quarter-finals
Jan 25, 2012, 22:27 GMT
Libreville, Gabon - Co-hosts Equatorial Guinea on Wednesday became the first team through to the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations after stunning Senegal 2-1 in Bata.
Goals by Randy and Kily secured the second victory for Equatorial Guinea in as many games and as the earlier match between Zambia and Libya ended in a 2-2 draw, the co-hosts are guaranteed a place in the knock-out stages.
Senegal, who were considered one of the favorites, have been eliminated.
A near capacity crowd in Bata thought that an equalizer from Senegal's Moussa Sow a minute from time had denied the home side a historic victory, but Kily scored a spectacular long-range effort in injury time to see his side through and set off wild celebrations throughout the country.
There was some disappointment though for coach Marcos Paqueta as Lawrence Doe was sent off in injury time and will now miss the next two games.
