LEAD: Africa Cup of Nations match kicks off on wet pitch
Jan 25, 2012, 17:41 GMT
Libreville, Gabon - The Africa Cup of Nations group A match between Libya and Zambia kicked off more than an hour late on Wednesday after heavy rain had earlier made the pitch in Bata unplayable.
When the teams finally took to the field, 75 minutes after the scheduled 1600 GMT starting time, large areas of the pitch appeared unplayable as the ball simply stopped in the puddles.
Zambia won their opening game at the January 21 - February 12 tournament and would take a giant step towards the knockout stage with a second victory.
A second group game between co-hosts Equatorial Guinea and Senegal was scheduled for later Wednesday in the same stadium.
