Cardiff fight back to reach Carling Cup final
Jan 24, 2012, 23:05 GMT
London - Cardiff City reached the Carling Cup final on Tuesday with a penalty shoot-out victory over Crystal Palace.
Palace led 1-0 from the first leg, but Cardiff levelled the aggregate scores within seven minutes, Don Cowie's cross from the right being turned into his own net by Anthony Gardner, who had got Palace's winner at Selhurst Park a fortnight ago.
The home side continued to dominate, but for all their pressure they couldn't find a second.
When Kenny Miller blazed the first penalty over the bar, it looked bleak for Cardiff, but Jermaine Easter and Scott Scammell had their efforts saved by Cardiff keeper Tom Heaton, and when Jonathan Parr missed the target, Cardiff's place at Wembley was confirmed.
Liverpool, leading 1-0 from the first leg, face Manchester City at Anfield in the second leg of the other semi-final on Wednesday.
